A market quote and a card or bank’s customer rate can differ. Write down the foreign amount, the quoted rupees per foreign unit, any percentage markup and each fixed fee. Confirm whether tax is already included rather than adding it twice.
For a USD 100 purchase at an assumed ₹85 per USD, the starting conversion is ₹8,500. A hypothetical 2% markup adds ₹170; a hypothetical ₹100 fixed fee makes ₹8,770 before any other applicable charge. None of these figures is a live exchange rate or a provider quote.
Ask which date’s rate applies, whether the merchant is converting the currency, what the final debit includes, and how a refund is converted. A refund at another rate can differ from the original debit. Get the fee schedule for the exact product you use.
